Provider of VNAs for Oncology Sites Reaches Significant Milestone

A large diagnostic imaging products and medical informatics solutions provider has announced that they have reached a milestone in the number of installations of their enterprise-wide medical information and image management Vendor Neutral Archive (VNA).

The company has installed more than 300 of the scalable VNA storage systems, used for managing cancer treatment data, at oncology sites around the world. The VNA manages all DICOM (Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine) and non-DICOM clinical oncology department data, used in the treatment of cancer patients. The data includes radiology diagnostic images, radiation treatment plans, and other clinical data. The oncology facilities that use the Synapse VNA interface more than 800 linear accelerators (linacs).

FUJIFILM Medical Systems U.S.A. (Stamford, CT, USA) developed the Synapse VNA technology interface. The company is also a leading worldwide provider of diagnostic imaging products, and medical informatics solutions, including digital X-Ray systems, Radiology Information Systems (RIS), the Synapse PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System), cardiovascular products, and advanced imaging systems for the women’s health market. The Synapse VNA enables clinicians to access and securely share the data and back it up, with disaster recovery capabilities.
