A wide range of new advanced information management systems and diagnostic image products aimed at improving hospital workflows and efficiency, and patient outcomes, have been revealed by a major healthcare Information Technology (IT) provider at Radiological Society of North America (RSNA 2014).

The new IT offerings by Carestream (Rochester, NY, USA) include a new clinical collaboration platform, additional features for existing healthcare IT systems, and a first generation ultrasound system with enhanced image quality and ultrasound imaging workflow efficiency improvements.

Other innovations showcased by Carestream at RSNA 2014 include a new digital X-ray imaging system, digital breast tomosynthesis tools, a new version of the Carestream Radiology Information System (RIS), a new cardiology image management platform, and a laser imager that prints CT, MR, and digital mammography images on radiographic film.

The web-enabled clinical collaboration platform is aimed at smaller hospital departments such as dermatology and endoscopy and is suited for telemedicine. The platform creates a clinical record which can be used with the Electronic Health Record (EHR), and provides a secure digital portal where patients can access their own imaging studies, and share them with doctors, and specialists.
