Software Provides Integrated Care to the Nuclear Medicine Department

Posted on 18 Oct 2011
A new nuclear medicine application supports the patient’s entire exam flow, from order entry to the final distribution of nuclear medicine results. It includes specialized functionalities to process, read, and report all nuclear medicine, single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT), positron emission tomography (PET), and multimodality images with only the click of a button, from a single workstation. Images and diagnoses can be shared with referring physicians within or outside the hospital walls.

Agfa HealthCare (Mortsel, Belgium) announced that it plans to present the newest version of its Impax for Nuclear Medicine solution at the 2011 Congress of the European Association of Nuclear Medicine (EANM), to be held in October 15-19, 2011, in Birmingham, UK. The solution’s advanced new features focus on usability, workflow, and productivity.

“At the EANM congress, we will demonstrate how Impax for Nuclear Medicine offers clinicians a unique solution that fully integrates the nuclear medicine department’s workflow and optimizes interdepartmental communications,” commented Erik Gielen, business manager Nuclear Medicine EMEA for Agfa HealthCare.

Impax for Nuclear Medicine, which is built on one of the most advanced picture archiving and communication systems (PACS), consolidates images and data across a wide range of modalities and departments, integrating them into a single information technology (IT) platform. The system delivers increased efficiency to the nuclear medicine department, handling complex scheduling requirements, including comprehensive resource planning and scheduling across multiple departments. It can be integrated with the department’s hot lab management solution to digitize and automate preparation of radiopharmaceuticals and registration of radiation dose.

Impax for Nuclear Medicine includes Oasis for Impax, developed in collaboration with Segami Corp. (Columbia, MD, USA) , which brings an integrated, fully featured nuclear medicine image processing and viewing package to the Impax workstation. Clinicians no longer have to switch between workstations, or manually synchronize patient study lists.
