Partnership to Introduce Beta Version Online Radiologic Opinions

By MedImaging International staff writers
Posted on 19 Dec 2011
A beta version of XMRI dot com, a new B2C (business-to-consumer) service, has been developed that enables consumers to receive primary or secondary radiologic opinions online. More...

The system utilizes a unique cloud-based platform and was developed alongside leading national outsourced radiology service provider, USARAD.com (Mt. Laurel, NJ, USA). USARAD dot com’s CEO, Michael Yuz, MD, MBA, commented, “We are excited to be working alongside Dicom Systems. Their advanced interoperability and teleradiology interface engine framework which allows integration with any RIS, PACs, or EMR systems accelerated the development of our service, enabling us to deliver more effectively this truly revolutionary B2C service for the second opinion market.”

The partnership fits perfectly with the Dicom Systems (San Francisco, CA, USA) priority of improving workflow and access to teleradiology networks. Second opinions have been standard medical practice for years, but until now the radiologic second opinion service was either not available or was very expensive. With XMRI dot com, it is possible to receive a second radiological opinion quickly and easily online.

The system utilizes proprietary patent-pending, cloud-based technology, enabling anyone to receive expert radiological interpretations online. Patients, radiologists, other physicians, and medical facilities (as well as legal and insurance professionals) can now, with Dicom Systems technology, upload images online, and receive almost immediate radiological reports. XMRI is currently in the Beta stage and has a limited liability until final production release.

Dicom Systems offers a 100% secure web-based Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine (DICOM) and HL [Health Level] 7 routing and interface engine appliance for hospitals, clinics, and diagnostic imaging centers. Its proprietary technology dramatically simplifies the client’s information technology (IT) structure by applying industry standard protocols, such as simple network management protocol (SNMP), secure sockets layer/transport layer security (SSL/TLS), Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine (DICOM), and HL[Health Level]7, thus enabling users remarkably quick and effective access to data regardless of their physical location within the enterprise.

USARAD dot com is a fully physician-owned and operated company that interprets general and a full range of subspecialty exams in all imaging modalities. Utilizing unique Radiology-On-Demand cloud-based technology, USARAD dot com is focused on providing timely and responsive image review using highly qualified specialists. All subspecialty interpretations are performed by board-certified fellowship-trained radiologists and cardiologists. The company provides 24/7/365 service in all 50 states for imaging centers, hospitals, and mobile imaging providers.
