New Collaborative Radiology App Designed for iPhone, iPad

By MedImaging International staff writers
Posted on 14 May 2012
A vast, collaborative online radiology resource has the ability to view hundreds of radiology cases in a quiz mode that then allows users to try to identify and interpret abnormalities--each including a number of questions and explanatory text with reference articles for additional study.

Radioiopaedia.org, partnered with UBM Medica US (London, UK) to recently release its iOS Radiopaedia app for the iPhone and iPad (both developed by Apple, Inc. Cupertino, CA, USA). Other features included in the application (app) include an intuitive navigation tool that allows users to easily scroll through stacks of images, zoom in and out, and access related questions, answers, and reference materials. Additional comprehensive material and cases are available for free and via in-app purchase.

“This new app will act as a platform for our users to access hundreds of cases gathered from across the globe, and will allow them to view them in an intuitive way, similar to how cases are encountered both in everyday practice and in exams,” said Radiopaedia.org founder Dr. Frank Gaillard.

Through a novel marketing and distribution partnership with UBM Medica US initiated in February 2012, Radiopaedia.org (http://radiopaedia.org) content is now delivered to more professionals via the UBM Medica Partner Network. “We are very excited about Radiopaedia’s new app,” said Barron Hirsch, senior director at UBM Medica US. “This mobile-ready application of radiology content will help ensure that health professionals have access to the information they need, at the moment they need it.”
Geared toward imaging health professionals at every level, this new app is the successor to the popular series of Radiopaedia.org radiology teaching files that have been available through the iTunes app store for a number of years.

Radiopaedia.org is a collaborative online radiology resource, founded by Australian Neuroradiologist Dr. Frank Gaillard in 2007. Its mission is to create the most comprehensive and up to date collection of radiologist reference articles and cases and to make it available online for free, for all, forever. Currently, the site has many thousands of cases and articles submitted and refined by users worldwide.
Addressing current healthcare information needs, UBM Medica, a division of UBM plc (UBM.L), delivers strategic, integrated communications solutions and comprehensive reach--online, in print, live, and via custom programs. Improving the effectiveness of healthcare through information and education, UBM Medica provides unbiased clinical, practical, and business information for physicians, providers, payers, and patients around the world.
