New Radiology Solutions Advance Service Providers

The new Siemens Healthineers Somatom go. computerized tomography (CT) platform has been designed to boost the competitive strength and profitability of radiology service providers and improve their commercial situation.

The Somatom go. platform offers two scanner variants: the 32-slice Somatom go.Now, which is intended for radiology providers who want to establish a new CT department, and the Somatom go.Up, which is equipped with a wider detector that can provide up to 64 CT slices. The scanners can be controlled via a handheld tablet, allowing medical staff to stay with patients while preparing the scan. In addition, the computer hardware previously housed in the external control room is now directly integrated into the scanner gantry, obviating the need for a separate control room.

Standardized procedures enable users to run the required scan with just a few inputs; automated post-processing facilitates scanner operation, enabling staff with less training to perform examinations, such as in night shift emergencies. The standardization also helps radiologists to avoid errors, the need for repeat scans, and unnecessary wait times. The software also adds additional assurance with regard to the diagnostic quality of the images, as well as offering faster scanning, which is especially important for lung imaging.

“Siemens Healthineers held interviews and workshops with over 500 radiologists, radiology assistants, CFOs, patients, and referring physicians from various countries to collaboratively identify key characteristics of an ideal CT scanner,” said André Hartung, head of CT at Siemens Healthineers. “The result is a platform that offers high quality standards and responds to current needs for efficient workflows and to clinical and financial requirements.”

The Somatom go. Ct platform is available with the integrated Siemens Healthineers Connect Plan, a multi-year service concept that provides low operating costs and innovative technologies that help providers to budget reliably, with lower running costs overall, thus helping to improve efficiency and patient care with corresponding high financial reliability.
