Shimadzu Europa GmbH (Duisburg, Germany) presented its latest cutting-edge product and clinical applications merging diagnostic imaging and analytical instrumentation technologies at ECR 2019.

The company showcased its state-of-the-art systems, including the Sonialvision G4 multi-functional R/F system with new functions that provides innovations in all areas, such as patient handling and care, dose reduction and image quality, as well as more simplified workflows; and the RADspeed fit Plus, its new advanced version of general radiographic system that integrates ease of use features of top class systems in a simple manner. Shimadzu Europa also highlighted its award-winning MobileDaRt Evolution, its new MX8 series wireless DR solutions featuring a collapsible column.

Among its analytic instrumentation solutions showcased at ECR 2019 was the DPiMS2020, its new mass spectrometer for quick analysis of tissue that provides easy operation without sample preparation. The DPiMS2020 uses a probe to remove a microquantity of liquid from the sample plate and inject it into the MS unit for mass analysis. It can measure chemical product, food material, and biological samples directly, or with very minimal sample pretreatment.

Shimadzu Europa also highlighted LIGHTNIRS, a new generation optical brain function imaging that applies near infrared light, which diffuses easily through biological tissue and measures localized blood oxygenation levels of the brain to monitor where activity occurs in response to a stimulus. Its portability allows visualizing of brain function activity in real-time in a more natural state than other methods. LIGHTNIRS is being used in a wide range of applications, including medical research, developmental psychology, education, cognitive science and engineering.
