A partnership and distribution agreement has been agreed to integrate an enterprise multimedia Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) with an enterprise image viewing solution.

The partnership will provide extended web and mobile access for clinicians to medical images and multimedia files from desktop computers, the web, and from mobile devices.

Under the agreement Calgary Scientific (Calgary, Canada) will integrate the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA; Silver Spring, MD USA) Class II ResolutionMD solution with the Apollo (Falls Church, VA, USA) Apollo Enterprise Patient Multimedia Manager (Apollo EPMM).

The ResolutionMD can be integrated into an Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system and distributed storage systems using a federated approach. The Apollo EPMM uses open-system architecture, and precludes the need to implement a PACS for each specialty in the healthcare institution.

Mark Newburger, president and CEO of Apollo, commented, “Effectively accessing all clinical multimedia regardless of format and without degradation within the clinical workflow is key for clinicians. We are pleased about our partnership with Calgary Scientific which significantly enhances the viewing capabilities integrated into Apollo EPMM for our prestigious and growing family of customers.”
