A medical imaging systems and Information Technology (IT) solutions provider has demonstrated its advanced imaging IT platform and product updates at Health-IT (HIT) Expo 2015 on May 19–21, in Paris (France). The new developments are intended to improve treatments, boost collaboration between physicians, and improve hospital efficiency.

One of the products demonstrated was a new clinical collaboration platform designed to boost collaboration between sites, networks, and ancillary departments, and give clinicians an overview of patient imaging records.

The Clinical Collaboration Platform developed by Carestream (Rochester, NY, USA) and uses the company’s intelligent Vue Archive to exchange and archive clinical content in Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine (DICOM) and/or non-DICOM formats.

The platform is a Vendor-Neutral Archive (VNA), but includes additional features such as intelligent lifecycle management, and meta-data management.

The Carestream Vue for Cloud infrastructure in France, is one of the largest in Europe with two data centers, and will connect more than 100 healthcare institutions by the end of 2015. The cloud infrastructure manages more than 1 petabyte of data. New Carestream Vue cloud services include teleradiology, image exchange, and patient portals, in addition to VNA and Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS). Carestream is also developing an on-line booking service for patients, in cooperation with RDVPS (France).
