Agfa HealthCare (Mortsel, Belgium) announced that it is changing the name of Insight Agents, GmbH (Heidelberg, Germany) to Agfa HealthCare Imaging Agents. A German company manufacturing generic contract media, Insight Agents was acquired by Agfa HealthCare in January 2010. The rebranding will support Agfa HealthCare as it extends the marketing and sales of the contrast media throughout Europe and globally.

The acquisition of Insight Agents was aimed at enhancing Agfa HealthCare’s diagnostic imaging business with a set of products that are increasingly used for diagnostic imaging procedures. The products are a logical addition to the company's successful imaging product range.

The rebranding of Insight Agents as Agfa HealthCare Imaging Agents will play a key role in extending the existing sales and marketing of the generic contrast media portfolio in Europe, as it expands its market presence globally. “Agfa HealthCare is known for in-depth knowledge of healthcare technology and clinical needs,” commented Dirk De Langhe, global business unit manager imaging agents, Agfa HealthCare. “We also have a clear goal of continuously improving our ability to deliver on-quality, on-time, and on-expectation. We will build on these strengths to maximize the growth potential of the acquisition and subsequent rebranding.”

With the increasing demand for diagnostic imaging, including in emerging markets, generic contrast media have an important role to play. “Healthcare costs are under a lot of pressure right now, but a focus on quality is still essential,” said Mr. De Langhe. “Our generic contrast media can meet both requirements.”

Agfa HealthCare Imaging Agents will continue to expand its contrast media product range as well, by developing products as existing third party patents expire. These imaging agents are not available in Canada or the United States.

Agfa HealthCare, a member of the Agfa-Gevaert Group, is a leading global provider of diagnostic imaging and healthcare information technology (IT) solutions. Agfa HealthCare develops systems for capturing, managing, and processing diagnostic images and clinical/administrative information for hospitals and healthcare facilities, as well as contrast media solutions to enable effective medical imaging results. The company has sales offices and agents in over 100 markets worldwide. Sales for Agfa HealthCare in 2010 were EUR 1.18 billion.
