Samsung Electronics America Acquires CT Imaging Company

Samsung Electronics America, Inc. (Ridgefield Park, NJ, USA), a subsidiary of Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. (Gangnam, South Korea), has acquired of NeuroLogica (Danvers, MA, USA), a company that develops computed tomography (CT) systems.

NeuroLogica, established in 2004, develops innovative medical imaging products and is known for its portable CT scanners, such as BodyTom and CereTom. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. The acquisition of NeuroLogica is another critical phase in the expansion of Samsung’s medical imaging business. The company plans to utilize its global brand awareness and advanced technology in international technology (IT) and communications, and consumer electronics, with NeuroLogica to expand medical imaging business.

Samsung Electronics is exploring new avenues of growth in the healthcare business by enhancing medical imaging diagnosis, providing innovation to both patients and physicians.

Samsung Electronics America, Inc. (SEA), markets a wide range of consumer electronics, information systems, and home appliance products, as well as oversees all of Samsung’s North American operations including Samsung Telecommunications America, LLC, Samsung Semiconductor, Inc., Samsung Electronics Canada, Inc. and Samsung Electronics Mexico, Inc. Samsung has become a global leader in consumer electronics and their components with a product range that includes smartphones, televisions, personal computers (PCS), printers, cameras, memory chips, and refrigerators.

NeuroLogica Corp. designs and manufactures imaging equipment that is simple to use and brings the advantages of imaging to the patient. NeuroLogica’s BodyTom CT and CereTom CT are US Food and Drug Administration (FDA)- registered and the quality system is certified to ISO 13485:2003 and ISO 9001:2008 with Canadian Medical Device Amendments. NeuroLogica’s BodyTom CT and CereTom CT are CE marked for distribution in the European Union and European economic area.
