Bayer and Rad AI Collaborate on Expanding Use of Cutting Edge AI Radiology Operational Solutions

Posted on 28 Jun 2024

Imaging data constitutes approximately 90% of all medical data, with the volume of such data continuously expanding, thereby significantly increasing the workload for radiologists amid existing resource limitations. More...

Simultaneously, there is an increasing requirement to validate the effectiveness of artificial intelligence (AI) deployments. Now, a new collaboration will allow radiology departments to leverage operational radiology AI applications and a scalable deployment platform through a single vendor.

Bayer (Leverkusen, Germany) and Rad AI (San Francisco, CA, USA;) have entered into a collaboration to integrate Rad AI’s advanced AI operational solutions for radiology into Bayer’s Calantic Digital Solution offerings. Rad AI brings to the table its state-of-the-art radiology speech recognition reporting solution, AI-driven patient follow-up management, and automated radiology impression creation technologies, enhancing the capabilities of Bayer’s Calantic Digital Solutions platform and extending its benefits to more hospitals and healthcare systems through Rad AI’s generative AI technologies.

Rad AI Reporting enhances the efficiency of radiologists by employing generative AI to structure radiology reports, thus allowing radiologists to concentrate more on analyzing studies and seamlessly incorporating findings from previous reports. Rad AI Omni Impressions customizes radiology report impressions based on the dictated findings, adjusted for each radiologist’s preferred terminology, thus helping to alleviate fatigue. Rad AI Continuity streamlines the management of incidental findings by automating the follow-up process, which not only ensures timely patient management but also has the potential to boost imaging revenue for healthcare systems.

Calantic Digital Solutions offers a comprehensive array of digital radiology AI-enabled clinical and operational applications that support radiologists and their teams through various stages of a patient’s radiology experience. The Calantic platform, a cloud-hosted, vendor-neutral solution, includes an expanding suite of applications aimed at enhancing prioritization, detecting and quantifying lesions, and automating standard tasks and measurements to optimize workflows in radiology departments. This platform selects applications using a meticulous curation method based on structured evaluation criteria.

"Rad AI and Bayer are dedicated to pioneering innovations that serve hospitals and health systems, allowing for greater access to these advanced technologies. This relationship allows for expanded use of our cutting-edge solutions in hospitals across the country," said Doktor Gurson, co-founder and CEO of Rad AI.

“Our customers consistently convey to us that a clear ROI from the use of AI will help to increase confidence and adoption. Demonstrating ROI via operational applications like those on Bayer’s Calantic Digital Solutions platform is often an easier path, which is why Bayer is excited to enter into this agreement with Rad AI. This technology has the ability to help physicians optimize and streamline their radiology reporting, and deliver benefits for the patient and the health system,” added Rich Dewit, Senior Vice-President, Digital Solutions, Bayer Radiology.
