A new version of a Digital X-Ray (DRX) imaging system that features expanded software and hardware options and enhanced performance has been released.

The fully-automated modular imaging system features a new design capable of accepting future advanced imaging applications, an extended tube column for imaging rooms with high-ceilings, and an optional table for patients weighing up to 320 kg.

The system by Carestream's (Rochester, NY, USA) DRX-Evolution Plus will begin shipping later in 2015.

Additional upgrades include a wall stand Bucky-angulation feature; touch screen, adaptations for pediatric capabilities, bone suppression software, secure log-in using Radio-Frequency Identification (RFID) badges, transbay option, automatic acquisition, and stitching for long-length and supine imaging exams, and Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise (IHE) dose reporting.

The DRX-Evolution Plus modular components and configurations support two cesium iodide detectors (35 x 43 cm and 25 x 30 cm), a 43 x 43 cm fixed wall-stand detector, and wireless detectors for table Bucky, and tabletop exams.

Carestream worldwide marketing director for X-Ray solutions and ultrasound, Helen Titus, said, “We have developed more new software features that can boost productivity and enhance the visualization of anatomy, while simultaneously helping to reduce radiation dose.”
