A new affordable, portable fully-featured Computed Radiography (CR) imaging system that can be upgraded to a wireless Digital Radiography (DR) system with faster image access and automated features is now available for ordering.

The system includes an articulating balanced arm that can be used for nearly all imaging exams. The compact unit is portable and lightweight, allowing it to be relocated easily. The system features an eight-inch touch screen monitor and uses a 30 kW generator. The system can be used in two modes, Anatomical Programmed Radiography (APR), and manual. APR mode helps the user to select the exam technique, and features push button and hand-switch controlled exposures. The system also features a tilting step to enable users to help move the system over uneven surfaces.

The new CR/DR Motion Mobile System is manufactured by Carestream (Rochester, NY, USA) and is expected to begin shipping outside of North America, to Latin America, Europe, and additional countries in December, 2015.

The DR retrofit upgrade option includes a 19-inch touch screen monitor, a Dose Area Product (DAP) and X-Ray generator interface that automatically acquires information about DAP and technique used, and other advanced features. The DAP interface automatically monitors patient dose so that the user does not need to enter this information manually. The system also features the Carestream DIRECTVIEW software that accelerates image display, has advanced image management features, and provides image delivery to printers and Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS).

The Motion Mobile imaging system supports sharing of DRX detectors with other Carestream DRX imaging systems, and can be used with the Carestream DRX-1 and DRX Plus detectors.

Heidi McIntosh, marketing manager, Carestream Global X-ray Solutions, said, “This flexible, reliable, new portable system offers components that make it easy to upgrade to a DR workflow. Imaging facilities across the world will find the Motion Mobile system can meet their imaging needs for years to come because of built-in functionality that can be activated when needed.”
