A large medical imaging systems manufacturer has released the newest member of a family of Digital Radiography (DR) scanners.

The mobile DR scanning system offers more functionality and software functions than previous models. The system features a built-in display, and a new user-friendly design to support clinicians during mobile imaging. The DR system uses a Flat Panel Detector (FPD), and is designed for use in emergency settings and Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NICUs).

The MX7, the newest member of the MobileDaRt Evolution family was developed by Shimadzu Corporation (Kyoto, Japan). Shimadzu has sold more than 2,700 mobile DR X-Ray systems worldwide.

The MX7 features an integrated power management function, and has a startup time of approximately one minute. The New power management functionality switches off power to the display when it is idle or when it is being moved to another location. This not only reduces power consumption, but improves security by preventing the display of sensitive patient information. The system also indicates battery charging and wireless LAN status in a hospital. Other features include 17-inch touch-panel LCD monitor, additional storage space, and a new water-resistant 2.5 kg, 14x17-inch FPD unit.
