GE HealthCare Showcases Innovative AI-Enabled Imaging Technology Solutions

Posted on 27 Nov 2023

GE Healthcare (Chicago, IL, USA) is highlighting more than 40 innovations, including several key artificial intelligence (AI)-enabled technologies within the imaging, ultrasound, and digital space at the Radiological Society of North America’s (RSNA) 2023 Annual Meeting taking place Nov. 26-30 in Chicago, IL. Each connected care solution is designed to better support clinicians, improve patient care, and increase health system efficiency at a time when healthcare system challenges include rising levels of radiologist burnout and shortages. GE HealthCare’s innovations highlighted at the RSNA booth include technologies and solutions that are designed to seamlessly integrate along clinical care pathways, including oncology, cardiology, and neurology. By using GE HealthCare integrated technologies and diagnostics, clinicians deliver a more personal, precise, and human-focused approach across the care continuum.

At RSNA 2023, GE HealthCare is launching a new AI-enabled MRI system that will make high-performance wide bore the standard for true patient comfort and will showcase existing AI and deep learning-powered solutions that help enable faster and more precise scans. GE HealthCare is introducing SIGNA Champion – a new MRI system designed to enhance the standard care of MRI exams for patients everywhere by democratizing advanced AI and innovative features to help enable faster and more precise MRI scans. SIGNA Champion is designed to stand out as an exceptional high-performance 1.5T wide-bore MRI system powered by a variety of GE HealthCare innovative breakthrough technologies.

GE HealthCare is also introducing another new platform-based product: Revolution Ascend platform, a CT solution with built-in scalability for onsite CT detector upgrades from a highly efficient 20 mm coverage system for routine scanning to a more advanced 40 mm coverage system that improves low contrast detectability. This design enables healthcare systems to invest in the clinical capabilities they need today, while also enabling growth in the future – all without replacing the gantry. The platform also introduces True Enhance DL, which uses a dedicated Deep Neural Network (DNN) designed to generate deep learning-based monochromatic-like images from single-energy X-rays. It is designed to increase contrast resolution for confident diagnoses, especially for challenging oncology cases and other exams. The AI-based solution provides clinicians with a simple workflow and incredible image quality without a radiation penalty.

At Booth (#7326), GE HealthCare is demonstrating a number of AI and deep learning solutions, including new solution introductions, on various systems and devices. This included SIGNA Champion, a brand new 1.5T scanner designed to offer true patient comfort and high-performance scans in a wide bore system, with access to premium technologies such as AIR Recon DL, Sonic DL, and AIR Coils. It also has AI-enabled workflow features designed to support efficiency and image quality regardless of the experience level of the user. Among its AI-enabled ultrasound solutions, GE HealthCare is demonstrating its Venue Family point-of-care ultrasound systems, now with Caption Guidance AI-driven technology, that provides real-time guidance to users for capturing diagnostic-quality cardiac images.

“GE HealthCare works to address radiology workforce challenges by focusing on the root causes of burnout, innovating to better support clinicians and helping providers deliver care when and where people need it,” said Peter Arduini, CEO of GE HealthCare. “Through our smart devices, streamlined disease state focus, and digital solutions, we’re bringing data together in the right place at the right time for providers, solving for inefficiencies in workflow, enabling precision care, and helping improve patient outcomes. With a history of innovation spanning more than a century, our goal at GE HealthCare is to solve the healthcare challenges of today, tomorrow, and well into the future.”

“Health systems and providers are facing several core challenges in managing efficient workflows, including limited ability to adjust staffing, burnout among radiologists and technologists, and variations in imaging equipment across sites, resulting in inefficient processes as well as training burden,” said Jan Makela, president, and CEO of Imaging at GE HealthCare. “We are uniquely positioned to help providers leverage imaging data across healthcare systems, connecting longitudinal data and layering it with analytics and AI to provide a full view into a patient’s journey, helping to solve diagnosis challenges and develop personalized approaches for better patient outcomes.”
