The new Mindray Medical (Mindray; Shenzen, China) Resona 7 Lightning Edition is a cart-based ultrasound device that highlights user ergonomics, with features that include gesture-based operation, a 21.5” high resolution LED monitor, high-sensitivity anti-glare color touch screen controls, a six-way adjustable floating control panel, five transducer ports (four of them active), remote system access capabilities, and a dual-wing floating arm that can be positioned 20 degrees backward, 90 degrees forward, 90 degrees to left, and 150 degrees to the right.

Technological features include second-generation ultra-wideband non-linear (UWN+) contrast-enhanced ultrasound that supports high frame-rate imaging on expanded transducers, which can improve visualization of vascular perfusion in the arterial phase by using plane-wave imaging on linear transducers. Also incorporated is high frame-rate (HiFR) sound touch elastography, to provide smoother transition times and faster rates during live 2D shear-wave imaging; and Glazing Flow 3D software, which optimizes visualization of microvascular perfusion states and improves delineation of vessel borders.

Other features include HD Scope, an advanced B-mode image processing technique that focuses additional various filtering and processing algorithms within a specified region of interest (ROI); Vector Flow imaging, which creates a quantitative map of hemodynamic states by tracking the acoustic speckle produced by micro-streams of red blood cells as they flow through several non-temporally coherent transmit plane waves; and the cybersecurity M-Secure Suite, which provides secure data encryption, wired/wireless DICOM encryption, secure data wipe, and an anti-virus.

“The Resona 7 is backed by Mindray's exclusive Living Technology promise that provides customers with easily upgradable software enhancements to secure product investment protection,” said the company in a press release. “Mindray developed this program to help equip their partners and clinicians with ultrasound solutions they won't soon outgrow. This allows Mindray to continue to innovate, evolve, and enhance their ultrasound solutions while ensuring their customers can remain at the cutting edge of imaging performance excellence - free of charge.”
