Partnership to Integrate Image Workflow Server into Image Viewer

Intelerad Medical Systems (Montreal, Canada), a developer of medical imaging picture archiving and communication systems (PACS), radiology information systems (RIS), and workflow solutions, reported that its partnership with Blackford Analysis (Edinburgh, UK) has resulted in the successful integration of Blackford’s image comparison acceleration technology into its InteleViewer diagnostic viewer.

The successful integration was performed using Blackford Workflow Server, a standalone preprocessing server that provides the ability to rapidly and easily integrate Blackford’s productivity technology into informatics product range. “The benefits provided by Blackford’s technology are very compelling and Workflow Server made it faster and easier to deploy,” said Rick Rubin, chief engineering officer, Intelerad. “The result is a powerful enhancement to diagnostic viewing environments that we are looking forward to providing our customers.”

Blackford Analysis is a provider of software products that accelerate comparison of medical images. By calculating and storing alignments with imaging studies, all healthcare professionals can benefit from instant study comparison. According to Blackford, its powerful technology provides the ability to improve care and increase productivity by boosting image comparison efficiency by 20%–50%.

Blackford Workflow Server removes the need for back-end engineering to allow rapid integration with diagnostic viewers, such as InteleViewer. The server allows studies to be pre-processed automatically on acquisition and enables load balancing through deployment as a physical server, a virtual server or a service. Blackford Workflow Server is fully Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine (DICOM)-compliant and produces nonproprietary DICOM objects.

“We are very pleased that Intelerad has benefited from the development of our Workflow Server,” said Dr. Ben Panter, CEO, Blackford Analysis. “This engagement demonstrates the effectiveness of Workflow Server to accelerate the implementation of our image comparison technology by radiology solution providers.”

Intelerad and Blackford Analysis will be demonstrating their technologies at the Radiologic Society of North America (RSNA) 2014 conference, held in Chicago (IL, USA); November 30 to December 5, 2014.

Intelerad Medical Systems is a developer of distributed radiology, specializing in RIS, PACS, and workflow solutions for healthcare organizations. Intelerad solutions increase productivity and streamline workflow by overcoming technical barriers in distributed and complex environments. The company’s systems are used in more than 1,000 sites across North America, Oceania, and the United Kingdom.

Blackford Analysis is a developer of software solutions for the medical sector. The company develops software designed to accelerate medical image comparison, saving time and increasing clinician capacity.
