A new web-based picture archiving and communications systems (PACS) has been developed to be compatible with the Microsoft Windows Vista operating system.

CoActiv Medical (Ridgefield, CT, USA), a developer and marketer of radiology and related healthcare imaging information technologies, presented its next-generation Exam-PACS web-based system at the Society for Imaging Informatics in Medicine (SIIM) conference in Seattle, WA, USA, in April 2008.

According to Edward Heere, president and CEO of CoActiv, this important enhancement was added at the request of numerous CoActiv customers. "More and more referring physicians are using the latest Microsoft Windows release, although most radiology sites themselves are not making the change,” he said. "CoActiv clients wanted to make sure their customers were offered compatibility with the latest Microsoft software. So, we jumped in to fill a gap in the marketplace left by other PACS vendors.”

CoActiv Exam-PACS has a full range of innovative features. These include customizable, color-coded worklists, Exam-NET remote exam interpretation and reporting for teleradiology users, and ultra-fast, comprehensive electronic workflow through the CoActiv Paperless-PACS solution.

CoActiv Medical is a software and information technology (IT) systems provider to hospitals and imaging centers, offering a complete line of PACS, teleradiology, and Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine (DICOM) utilities through their Exam-PACS picture archiving and communications system. Exam-PACS is an all-inclusive, cost-effective, enterprise PACS solution with image management tools designed for easy integration into imaging facilities of all sizes.
