A new digital dashboard offers system administrators a convenient way to proactively monitor equipment performance, storage utilization, and user volumes, from virtually anywhere. The digital dashboard also enables administrators to verify network communication of other vendors' devices.

The newest generation of Carestream (Rochester, NY, USA) Digital Dashboard, which supports Carestream radiology information systems/picture archiving and communications systems (RIS/PACS) and Carestream Information Management solutions, includes proactive notification for system events via e-mail or text messaging, will be available worldwide on June 19, 2008.

Having a consolidated view of system performance data allows an administrator to maximize department productivity by staying a step ahead of potential bottlenecks, and enhance personal productivity by reducing daily system administrative tasks.

Digital dashboard enhancements include: (1) Radiology and PACS administrators can elect to receive user-configurable e-mail or text message alerts for issues ranging from disk space and table space thresholds to disruptions in network connectivity and failed processes. These preferences can be changed at any time, and notifications can be sent to other users when the primary administrator is out of the office or is not on call. Administrators can also opt to receive on-screen notifications so they will be alerted to a system event when working in another application on their desktop. (2) An enhanced user interface presents information in a more convenient format and allows maintenance checklists to be managed separately for each server. (3) Dashboard updates, training, and feedback sessions, and product news can be delivered directly to the administrator's desktop via an icon that changes color when new content has been posted. (4) RIS reports are now available (in addition to PACS reports) so administrators can easily view snapshots of exam progress and other workflow characteristics. (5) Lastly, optional integration of the IBM Lotus Sametime module with the dashboard allows administrators to instantly communicate with radiologists, physicians and other system users.
