A pure thin-client, Web-based application has been created for the viewing of full positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) data sets with fused images, requiring only a secure password and login.

PETLinQ, LLC (MacLean, VA, USA), a radiology solutions provider, announced the release of its newest product innovation, SoftStationWeb. Harsha Hatti, PETLinQ's president and CEO explained, "The need to provide fresh and innovative portable technologies is absolutely critical in driving the much needed efficiencies and access to real-time information within healthcare today. PETLinQ intends to lead in this space by providing fresh and new solutions that deliver these efficiencies and access while effectively connecting the key stakeholders in radiology--the radiologist, the referring physician, the facility, and the patient. "

Using SoftStationWeb, referring physicians can have access to key reports and view full PET/CT studies via SoftStationWeb through their own referring physician portal. The referring physicians will have access to all the relevant tools, standard uptake value/Hounsfield unit (SUV/HU), axial, sagital, coronal data, triangulation, zooming, fusion blend and many other tools at their fingertips without the need to download cumbersome large data sets or client side software. With the use of this new technology, the need for burning CDs with embedded viewers is eliminated. Now, automated text messages can be sent to the portals directly as reports are made available for review. Even patients will now have the ability via SoftStationWeb to access their private patient portal to view reports, images, status updates from their physicians, schedule their appointments online and pay their bills through the PETLinQ patient portal.

Robert Bridwell, M.D., MBA, PETLinQ's chief medical officer stated, "PETLinQ believes the traditional ways of doing business in healthcare must change if healthcare is to change for the better. We will continue to challenge ourselves to think out of the box with breakthrough technologies that are sure to help revolutionize radiology. SoftStationWeb is just the beginning of a number of fresh and improved technologies to be launched by PETLinQ in the radiology space.”

PETLinQ has grown its products and services globally to include all Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine (DICOM) modalities, a patent-pending interface engine, fully integrated applications for Windows and MAC platforms, and ancillary product offerings.
