A new edition of a 1.5T scanner with enhanced productivity, and improved patient comfort and safety has been released.

The new Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) scanner is quieter and more comfortable for patients than previous editions, and includes an enhanced intelligent workflow for complete exams.

The Toshiba America Medical Systems (Tustin, CA, USA) Vantage Titan / Zen Edition 1.5T features the new Pianissimo Zen technology that reduces noise during image acquisition by 99%, multi-echo T2 maps for an enhanced cardiac workflow and an updated FFE2D mEcho sequence for the quantification and analysis of myocardial iron overload. The scanner also features T1 mapping with a Modified Look Locker Inversion (MOLLI) sequence for improved quantitative characterization of myocardial tissue in a single breath-hold.

Additional features include Phase Sensitive Inversion Recovery (PSIR) that provides improved contrast in late-enhanced cardiac imaging, without calibration, and enables the completion of cardiac imaging exams with fewer breath-holds. The Ultrashort Echo Time (UTE) feature provides improved imaging of musculoskeletal tissues and the lungs, and the EasyTech feature provides automatic slice alignment, a standardized workflow, and automatic positioning.

Senior director, CT, PET/CT, and MR Business Units at Toshiba America Medical Systems, Dominic Smith, said, “Toshiba Medical puts customers first by delivering advanced technology with patient-friendly features, so they can provide exams that are quiet, comfortable and faster. The Zen Edition software includes enhancements to a comprehensive suite of innovative clinical applications, intelligent technology and an intuitive user interface that increases efficiency and workflow."
